With those words is how a person instantly loses my trust, ironically enough.
I think to myself
“no silly because the second you say whatever you been keeping a secret it stops being a secret ESPECIALLY if it’s not yours to share”
but now I’m curious “sure, go ahead”
The funny thing about the nature of a secret that a lot of people fail to comprehend, it’s that a secret cannot be told, but it can be witnessed or experienced.
If you and a friend witness something you feel as if you shouldn’t of witnessed and you just look at each other and agree to never speak what you just saw into reality or share with anyone that is a secret.
if you go through something whether beautiful or sad, together or alone and you don’t share it with someone that’s a secret.
Ex: When I was 14 I had my first kiss, that was a secret until I told my friends. One time I passed out drunk on a staircase that was a, our secret until the friend who found me told everyone and so did I making fun of myself.
When you use the words can I tell you something “serious, important, personal, private” then you share an private experience and if the person you shared it with does not say what they just witnessed then that’s a secret.
But saying the words “can I tell you a secret” is like the same thing as “tell everyone we mutually know”
Our psyche is messed up like that.
Gossip spreads faster when It was asked to be kept secret.
“Can I tell you a secret?” yes you can but I will never in a billion years share anything super private and personal with you, or let you get close to me.
that’s my secret
